New Sassa changes – updated and approved 15092022

These New Sassa changes will benefit you

New Sassa changes – For the millions of R350 Sassa Grant Applicants, the latest Sassa changes and promise of jobs, came as a happy surprise.

Until recently, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) had a requirement where, in order to qualify for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, an applicant had to reconfirm their grant applications every three months.

If you applied for the SRD grant in April 2022, you had to reconfirm your SRD grant applications for July 2022 (three months since the April applications). As many applicants failed to do so, this requirement will no longer be in use and applicants can apply once for grant consideration.

To further guarantee that you receive the SRD grant, Sassa has pressed on beneficiaries to double check submitted bank account details, for errors.

These Sassa changes will be beneficial and what is more, Sassa is hoping to also bring jobs where they are needed.

“Currently, Sassa is in the process of establishing a data-sharing relationship with the departments of public works and infrastructure, and employment and labour, with the goal of assisting Covid-19 SRD recipients to gain access to employment opportunities.”
“Furthermore, the department has finalised a framework on linking social protection beneficiaries to sustainable livelihoods initiatives, with the view to provide skills targeting the unemployed and those on the SRD database to enhance chances of employment,” said Zulu.
