Requirements to qualify for the SASSA Unemployment Grant

To apply for the SASSA Unemployment Grant, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Residency and Citizenship:

Must be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee currently residing within South Africa.

Age:

Applicants must be between 18 and 60 years old.

Employment Status:

Must be unemployed and not receiving any form of income.

No Other Social Grants:

Applicants must not be receiving any other SASSA social grants or assistance from government programs, including UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund) payments.

Income Limit:

The applicant’s monthly income should not exceed a specified amount determined by SASSA (subject to periodic updates).

Ensure that all necessary documents, such as your ID and proof of residence, are ready for submission during the application process.
