Requirements to qualify for the SASSA Disability Grant

To apply for the SASSA Disability Grant, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Age:

Must be between 18 and 59 years old.

Medical Assessment:

A certified medical assessment must confirm that the applicant is either permanently or temporarily disabled.

Residency and Citizenship:

Must be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or a refugee residing in South Africa.

Income Limit:

Applicants must meet the income and asset threshold determined by SASSA for eligibility.

Medical Report Validity:

The medical report used in the application must not be older than three months at the time of submission.

Means Test:

Applicants’ income and assets will be evaluated to determine eligibility, as this grant is intended for individuals who have no means of supporting themselves financially.
