Application requirements for SASSA Care Dependency Grant

To qualify for the SASSA Care Dependency Grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Residency:

Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or recognized refugee residing in South Africa.

Child’s Age:

The child must be under 18 years old and require full-time care due to a severe disability.

Medical Assessment:

A medical certificate confirming the child’s permanent severe disability must be provided by a doctor appointed by SASSA.

Means Test:

The applicant’s income must not exceed R249,600 annually if single, or R499,200 if married. Foster parents are exempt from this test.

Care Requirements:

The child must not be receiving care in a state institution or any other financial grant.
